I've always leaned more towards a field hockey girl than a ballerina, but as I've gotten older, I've come to realize that moving gracefully is important for me. So, I've started attending weekly beginner adult ballet classes. Yes, they are indeed for adults—very serious ones, at that—and by my standards, they certainly don’t feel like beginner classes. My fellow ballerinas glide effortlessly through the class, politely ignoring my struggles (thanks, ladies!). The instructor often reminds me to keep my chin up, both literally and metaphorically, and I do my best to comply as she encourages me to maintain good posture. I appreciate her support. Yes, it’s challenging, and I sometimes feel like Quasimodo, but at least my outfit is cute, and in an hour, it will all be over.
See you next week!
